Troy Patterson

Troy Patterson is a graphic designer, design educator, and a letterpress practitioner and collector of things. A graduate of Kutztown University he has an MFA in Graphic Design from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Patterson teaches graphic design at York College of Pennsylvania. While working with young designers is his main focus these days, he continues to be deeply involved in his own personal practice at Catch and Release Press. At C&RP he works on a range of projects, both commercial and personal where he makes 21st century digitally based graphic design and experiments in letterpress processes.

There has been a new shift of focus in Patterson’s work to feel connected to more tactile kinds of production in his work. He is investigating his collection of old magazines, books, discarded ephemera, and a stock pile of cast-off prints from his letterpress studio. Using this vast collection, Patterson is cutting and pasting a distinctive and contemporary style of collage and mixed media art as a wayto release objects, ideas, and design back into the world. The intent is to bring back collective memories of nostalgic days gone by.
